December 2007 DSMRC Meeting

Over 30 people braved the cold and threats of snow to attend the second DSMRC meeting. Special thanks to Ellen Huntoon for hosting the group at her beautiful home in the historic River Bend neighborhood.
Of particular note were the beautiful stairway, the kitchen (with butler's pantry), and the carriage house under renovation. The carriage house is connected to the main house through an underground tunnel! The third floor back windows overlook the Des Moines River.
Ralph Christian, resident of River Bend who also works for the State Historical Society, talked for a bit about the neighborhood history and mentioned some of the tax credit and grant incentives for historic renovation. We will have him talk in more detail about how to take advantage of these programs in more detail at a future meeting.
Since the weather was cold, gray, and snowy on the day of the December 2007 DSMRC meeting, this photo is from the Assessor's web site.
