May 3 is the first Saturday in the month, and therefore the monthly meeting for the Des Moines Rehabbers Club. It is also the annual Rebuilding Together work day. Rebuilding Together rehabilitates homes for low-income homeowners, particularly the elderly, disabled, and families with dependent children. This year, the annual work day will pair volunteer teams up with 45 homeowners in the Des Moines area to perform home repair and critical maintenance.

In lieu of a formal meeting, I am asking Des Moines Rehabbers Club members to volunteer a day of their time to help out a family in need of home maintenance or repair. Volunteers are matched to the needs of the homeowner, so even if all you can do is paint, we still need you. This could be your opportunity to learn a new skill as well!
