2008 Most Endangered Buildings

A charred Sherman Hill mansion and a former one-room schoolhouse have been named to the Des Moines Rehabbers Club's 2008 list of “Des Moines Seven Most Endangered Buildings”.

In no particular order, the following structures were selected as the 2008 finalists.

May Rehabbers Club Meeting

This month we'll be visiting the home of Linda Goode. She's been a
long time Rehabbers Club member and has been eager to share her home
with us for a while now! The meeting will be this Saturday, May 5 from
9:30-11am at 815 Euclid in Highland Park. Here's a message from Linda:

Spring Series, Part 3: Working With Neighborhood Resources

Join us for the third in our spring series this Saturday, April 21st from 9:30-11am at the home of Aaron and Breanne, 1824 7th St. in River Bend. Their house is in the early stages of renovation. We'll get to hear about their plans and I'm sure they've made some interesting discoveries.

In addition to learning about the house, Marlon Mormann will share tips and strategies for working with your local neighborhood association, the city council, and other resources that can help rehabbers within their neighborhoods.

Reynolds Energy Solutions, LLC

Tim Reynolds performs home energy assessments that include combustion testing, blower door tests, and thermal imaging scans. These energy audits are part of a pilot program with MidAmerican Energy and the U.S. Department of Energy. The Energy Star service is currently offered to residents of the city of Des Moines and Iowa City.

Tim knows all about the rebates available, including a $150 rebate that completely covers the cost of your home assessment.

Spring Series, Part 2: Historic Tax Credits!

Join us at Trinity United Methodist Church (8th & College) on April 14 from 9am-11am to learn about the tax credits available for historic homes in Des Moines. Steve Wilke-Shapiro will walk us through the available programs and what is needed to apply. Plus, we'll get to re-visit a beautiful building that was under renovation the last time we had a meeting there.

**Note the earlier start time.** We have a lot of material to cover so please try to be on time so we can get started right away.
