January 2008 DSMRC Monthly Meeting - All Electric
As we find ourselves in the middle of bitter winter weather, energy consumption moves to the front of many people's minds. Brian Douglas and Dan Royer took the initiative to start making their home more energy efficient by installing a new furnace, heat pump, and water heater in their 4,000 square foot River Bend Queen Anne.
Join us at the January Des Moines Rehabbers Club meeting to discuss energy efficiency and hear about the process of converting a house to all electric.
Where: 1429 9th Street
When: 9:30-11:00am, January 10, 2009
When Brian and Dan purchased their house in April 2008, the previous owner had done a lot to fix it up - but there were still some major projects left. In the past year, they have replaced the roof as well as rebuilt the brick porch foundation and columns.
Upcoming projects include:
- Convert the 3 bedroom apartment in the attic back to a ball room and remove the exterior staircase
- Replace storm windows
- Build a new garage
- Finish up painting
Note: This is not the first Saturday in the month
DSMRC monthly meetings are free and open to the public! They are typically held on the first Saturday of each month from 9:30 to 11:00 in the morning. Each meeting is at a different location and covers a different topic. We welcome people of all skill levels whether you are a professional general contractor, exploring options for redoing a bathroom, or simply want to talk about renovation with other interesting people.
