Habitat for Humanity Deconstruction Day
Saturday, June 6, 2009 at 8:00am to 4:00pm
Interested in salvaging building materials for a good cause? If so, Habitat for Humanity needs your help! The ReStore occasionally salvages hardwood flooring, trim, doors, light fixtures, cabinets and much more from homes in the Des Moines area scheduled for demolition. These materials would otherwise be destroyed, but instead, Habitat resells them at their ReStore to raise funds that benefit Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity.
On June 6 they will be tearing up approximately 1500 square feet of hardwood flooring, dismantling doors, and retrieving fixtures from two houses in the Beaverdale neighborhood. They will need at least 20 volunteers to accomplish this. All day commitment for this project is preferred (8AM - 4 PM) and because they will be using power tools, all volunteers must be at least 18 years old.
If interested in volunteering or organizing a group to help, please contact Emily Schaapveld at 309-0224 x 118 or email eschaapveld@gdmhabitat.org.
