Smith, Brian
[Recommendation submitted via e-mail] I have recently been involved in remodeling an historic home located half block from the northern border of the Sherman Hill Historic district. The house was in very poor condition when I started. Brian Smith was instrumental in saving several original plaster and lath walls. Unfortunately the original ceilings and a few walls were to far gone to save but, Brian installed and finished new wall board and has brought the home up to a very high standard.
This is not the first project I have done with Brian. A few years ago he repaired the plaster and painted several rooms in my personal residence. I have always been very happy with Brian’s work.
I have spent a lot of time in the Sherman Hill area and could not help but visit Brian a few times while he was involved in the Murrillo project. His ability to repair and match the finish of existing woodwork is no less than artistry. I was absolutely surprised when I was unable to distinguish which panel of a six panel door he had completely replaced and refinished. I pride myself for having a good eye and being very familiar with the patina of aged finishes. The new panel was indistinguishable from the exiting panels. I am looking forward to working with Brian again when it comes time to refinish and fabricate woodwork for my property. I have known Brian for many years, and am aware of some of the “South of Grand” projects he has worked on in the past. I am happy to recommend Brian as an experienced and knowledgeable restorationist.

Recommendation
[Recommendation submitted via e-mail] Brian Smith of Des Moines is experienced and skilled at wood epoxy window repair. He was a good friend of my late husband's and it was doubly good to have him do some repair on my own house this last summer (2009). I was very pleased with the results and the work he did.
Recommendation
[Recommendation submitted via e-mail] This is a letter of recommendation for Brian Smith of Des Moines. Over the past three years I have retained Brian numerous times to work on my home in Beaverdale. I found him to be honest, dependable and courteous. He always provided quality workmanship no matter what the project. He has reglazed and painted windows, replaced broken panes, the results being my windows look virtually new. He rebuilt a roof on my porch. He has done interior painting and handiwork of all kinds.I have been satisfied in every instance and his prices are very reasonable. I would recommend him to anyone with similiar needs.
