The IAF supports programs, projects and publications that share this vision. It solicits, receives and expends gifts, grants and legacies for education and preservation of architecture and its allied arts and sciences. It also provides guidance to those groups, individuals, and companies who endeavor to improve their communities."

Neighborhood Finance Corporation
Neighborhood Finance Corporation is a non-profit corporation that focuses on lending and housing development in targeted Des Moines Neighborhoods. Programs include forgivable home repair loans, forgivable down payment assistance, and renovation of existing homes for sale. Lending programs are geographically qualified, not income qualified - anyone who wants to move into a designated neighborhood is eligible for consideration.
Drake Neighborhood

"Minutes from downtown Des Moines, the Drake neighborhood offers beautiful turn-of-the-century homes, some located on the National Historic Register - all in walking distance of coffee houses, locally owned restaurants, an art-house movie theater, grocery stores, and specialty shops. In the summer the neighborhood hosts a weekly farmers market with farm-fresh produce, great barbecue and live music."
Des Moines Neighborhoods
The City of Des Moines has an innovative neighborhood designation program designed to promote community organizing. According to the City web site, there are currently 51 active neighborhood organizations.
Sherman Hill Neighborhood
Located in one of Des Moines' oldest neighborhoods, many of the Victorian homes of Sherman Hill have been lovingly renovated. The active neighborhood association hosts an annual home tour.
